Lymington

Lymington, on the edge of the New Forest, is a major yachting centre on the Lymington River. From here, the Isle of Wight ferry can be taken to Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight. In the 1930s, Imperial Airways flying boats provided scheduled services from here to South Africa, India and other parts of the Empire. Imperial Airways became British Overseas Aircraft Corporation, which merged with British European Airways in 1974, to form British Airways.

The broad High Street, containing attractive Georgian and nineteenth century houses, runs down to the picturesque streets of The Quay and harbour.
