Chapel Porth, St. Agnes
Chapel Porth is a small cove, just two miles from St. Agnes. This north Cornish cove is renowned for the great surf which can be enjoyed here. At low tide, the white sandy beach stretches from the caves below Wheal Coates Mine in the north, to Porthtowan in the south. The cove is under the care of the National Trust. There is a car park on the beach, toilets and a café, supplying hot and cold food. The RNLI provide a lifeguard service in the summer months.
Chapel Porth is the start of several popular walks. Provided attention is paid to tide tables, there is a spectacular walk along the beach to view the Vugga below Towanroath Pumping Engine House on the cliffs above. Alternatively, there are walks along the cliff top to St. Agnes Headland and Trevaunance Cove, or Porthtowan and Portreath.
