Beautiful England - photos of England and the UK

Haddenham's charm needs to be discovered on foot. This village has thatched cottages and timber-framed houses, but are mostly hidden behind white boundary walls. These are quite distinctive, as they are topped by red pantiles, giving an almost Mediterranean feel to the village when the sun shines. New buildings have matched the old building materials, which was "wichert", a mixture of chalk marl and straw.

At one time, a thriving duck breeding business was carried on from the duck pond, which adjoins St. Mary's churchyard wall.
