Lower Slaughter

Close to Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter lies under the foothills of the Cotswolds. Its name, derived from an Anglo-Saxon word, means “muddy or watery place.” The River Eye flows picturesquely through the centre of the village under small stone bridges.

The cottages, built of local stone with stone roofs, date from the 17th and 18th centuries.
